RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela international midfielder Yeferson Soteldo is poised to return to Santos on loan from Mexico's Tigres UANL, according to media reports in Brazil.
The clubs are in advanced talks and a deal is likely to be struck before Brazil's mid-season transfer window closes on August 15, Globo Esporte reported.
Soteldo made 87 appearances and scored 19 goals for Santos between 2019 and 2021 but has since struggled to recapture his best form.
The playmaker, who has been capped 28 times for Venezuela, had a nine-month spell at Toronto FC before joining Tigres on a four-year deal in January. He has made just 19 appearances for the Liga MX outfit and scored one goal, having mostly been used as a substitute.
Santos is currently ninth in the 20-team Serie A standings with 30 points from nine matches, 15 points behind leader Palmeiras.
