DUBLIN, Ireland - A man and a woman were arrested when airport customs authorities discovered a case containing cocaine worth an estimated 740,000 Euros.
According to the evidence presented in Dublin District Court, the drugs were partially in liquid form in shampoo bottles.
After their flight landed at Dublin Airport on Thursday evening, Garda detained Jefferson Pedrucci, 32, of Carrigmore Glen, Saggart, Dublin, and Pamela Da Silva, 28, of no fixed address. They had flown from the Brazil capital of Sao Paulo, via Lisbon.
They appeared in front of Judge Dermot Simms at Dublin District Court No. 2 at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin on Saturday morning and were charged with illegally possessing and importing cocaine, as well as having it for sale or supply.
Ms. Da Silva is also charged with possessing fraudulent immigration documents.
According to the Garda, Mr. Pedrucci denied knowing the contents of suitcases he claimed were provided to him by people in Brazil.
He also said the shampoo bottles were for a friend's wife, an Irish hairdresser.
