Sixth-seed Marin Cilic came back from a set down to cruise past Damir Dzumhur in opening-round play Monday of the Kremlin Cup in Russia.

Dzumhur, a Bosnian, took the first set in a tiebreaker, but Cilic was a 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-1 winner, largely on the strength of his 22 aces. The Croatian also capitalized on five of nine break opportunities and is seeking his third Kremlin Cup title.

Australian John Millman also turned in a three-set comeback in an opening-round victory, defeating Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-3 in two hours, 35 minutes.

The European Open

No. 8 seed Dusan Lajovic of Serbia muddled through the first set but then switched into another gear to defeat Richard Gasquet of France 7-6 (3), 6-1 and advance to the second round in Antwerp, Belgium.

Lajovic needed 52 minutes to win the first set but finished the match with a 32-minute second set.

Next up for Lajovic will be Arthur Rinderknech of France, a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Federico Delbonis of Argentina to mark his 15th career victory. He won 29 of his 34 first-serve points in sweeping Delbonis.
