BANAYOYO, Ilocos Sur, Apr. 10 (PIA) - Banayoyo Mayor Virgilio Galanga issued Executive Order (EO) No. 10 yesterday, April 9, for the temporary closure of the entry and exit points within the municipality from April 7 to 21, 2021.
These entry and exit points are the Banbanaal-Salvador 2nd, Candon City entry/exit point; Lintic (Binnuyog Bridge)-Tablac, Candon City entry/exit point; Pila-Salvador 1st, Candon City entry/exit point; and the Casilagan Sur-Salvador 1st, Candon City entry/exit point.
This is in compliance and support to the Executive Order No. 28 issued by Governor Ryan Luis Singson on Tuesday placing two cities and 11 municipalities of Ilocos Sur under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Though the town is not included in areas placed under MECQ, this precautionary measure was planned and imposed by the local government unit (LGU) of Banayoyo in order to prevent the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The EO said, these roads can only be opened and used for emergency purposes.
During the temporary closure of these entry/exit points, only the main roads within Banayoyo shall be utilized by the duly authorized citizens for mobilization.
In the case of the Banbanaal-Salvador 2nd, Candon City entry/exit point, constituents from Salvador 2nd shall be allowed to pass through Banbanaal provided that they strictly follow the guidelines under the MECQ and the guidelines and protocols of the LGU of Banayoyo.
"In order to control the mobility of the constituents, a quarantine pass shall be issued by the Punong Barangay to those residents who are travelling outside Banayoyo going to LGUs declared as MECQ, provided that the travel is essential," the EO reads.
It added, "All visitors shall also present their quarantine pass from their place of origin to the checkpoints established in the barangays. Only essential travels as per guidelines issued by the IATF and the provincial government of Ilocos Sur shall be allowed entry to the LGU of Banayoyo."
Personnel from the Banayoyo Municipal Police Station and the barangay officials together with their Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams shall be responsible for the imposition of this order.
As of 10p.m. of April 8, LGU Banayoyo has three active COVID-19 cases. (JCR/AMB/PIA Ilocos Sur)
