New program baits jobless Britons
Brazil News.Net Monday 8th September, 2008
The British government is planning to sponsor a TV show where jobless people will be quizzed about why they are unemployed and what they are doing to get a job.
The government is paying around 400,000 pounds to host Jeremy Kyle for making the program.
Provisionally titled “Jeremy Kyle Gets Britain Working”, it has been predicted the tone of the show will be controversial.
Another of Kyle's shows had been described as “bear-baiting” after one guest headbutted another.
The Liberal Democrats' Don Foster said Sunday of the idea for the jobs show: “It adds insult to injury that a government agency is using such a controversial figure and is further evidence of lack of judgement.”
A Work and Pensions spokesman said: “We work with lots of people to get our message across.”
