More positive figures show up in US

A Citigroup economic report has suggested the US is outperforming expectations by the most in nine months.

The index report has measured whether economic data has been better or worse than what economists have been projecting.

It has found the economy improved in December after the US Labor Department reported an unexpected drop in the jobless rate.

The report has suggested most economists have been missing the underlying strength in the largest economy in the world.

November unemployment was shown to be at the lowest level in more than 2 years with manufacturing running at the fastest pace in five months.

The Institute for Supply Management's factory index increased to 52.7 last month from 50.8 in October.
